SOURCES: Manchester United Make New Contacts For Youssouf Fofana

Manchester United are back in contact to sign Youssouf Fofana, as INEOS looks to beat AC Milan to another target within this transfer window. Fofana has already agreed personal terms with the Italian club, however, and a deal still remains extremely difficult for the English club, but reports in Italy suggesting United have re-entered the race are indeed true as far as we understand.

United have been tracking Fofana for a long time. Contacts previously took place in late May/early June, but up until now, the club has not made an offer for the player or agreed to personal terms. The French midfielder would be open to a move to Manchester United, as he views the club as legendary.

United Still Trail In Fofana Race:

The Reds remain the only side not to make an offer for the player out of the three teams interested. Both AC Milan, who have agreed terms, and Atletico Madrid have made offers to the player side. United, on the other hand, are just speaking at this moment in time. Manuel Ugarte is another player on the radar for Erik ten Hag’s side, but they are unwilling to pay the current €70m PSG are demanding.

The most likely destination for Fofana remains AC Milan, but that could all change if United make their interest more formal. Monaco have demanded around £25-30m since the beginning of the window, with the player having just one-year left on his current deal. Movement was always expected to speed up after the EURO 2024 campaign, and the player’s future is anticipated to be sorted within the next week or so.

United are likely to sign two midfielders this summer, with the club open to signing Sofyan Amrabat on different terms after turning down the opportunity to sign him on last years loan agreement terms this week. Contact for Fofana is a positive sign, and the fans will be hoping United take their interest further in the coming days.
