SOURCES: Tottenham Hotspur Among Clubs Interested In Mohamed Simakan

Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs with a keen interest in Mohamed Simakan from RB Leipzig. The French defender has been linked with a move away from the German side this summer, and a whole host of clubs within the Premier League have shown admiration for his talents.

Manchester United and Liverpool are among the other clubs that have been tracking the player, who turned 24 in May. Simakan has played for Leipzig since 2021, signing for the club from French League side Strasbourg for a fee of €15m. Since his debut, he has made 120 appearances, scoring seven times and contributing to 13 assists.

Spurs Eye Simakan

The Leipzig defender’s greatest asset is his versatility. He is able to play right-back as well as centre-back, and has even slotted in at defensive midfield a handful of times during his short career so far. We understand Tottenham are showing the most interest in him at this moment in time, but there has been no formal offer from any of the clubs in the race,

Simakan would likely want to be guaranteed a starting role at whichever club he joins, and at this moment, Manchester United are likely to be one of the clubs who could offer that should they miss out on the signings of Jarrad Branthwaite and Leny Yoro. Liverpool are looking to add some more depth to the position after the departure of Joel Matip, but game time could be difficult for the Frenchman due to Ibrahima Konate’s role, as well as the emergence of Jarrel Quansah.

Simakan has yet to feature for the French senior national team, and a big move to a club within the Premier League could push him to that next step, which could force him into contention for selection at the World Cup in 2026. The player is one to watch in the coming weeks, along with his teammate Dani Olmo, but Leipzig are relaxed about the situation as things stand.
