Premier League Matchday 19 Predictions

Welcome back again to the Attacking Football predictions, where Alex and Yassin go head-to-head every week to try and see who has the best luck or who genuinely knows the ball. There is a prediction table down at the bottom, too, with a link to Scott’s predictions on our TikTok page! Anyway, let’s get into the predictions.

Premier League Matchday 19 Previews & Predictions

Leicester City vs Manchester City

Leicester City: The Foxes are in a real pit of bother, and let’s be honest, a few seasons ago, Manchester City would be the last team you would want to face when you were in the form Leicester are in. However, right now, apart from Southampton, there is nobody you would rather play, and it feels ludicrous to say that.

Manchester City: A Rodri clone. Without the world’s best player, the Premier League Champions are a shadow of themselves.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 3-0 Manchester City. It can’t go on like this… can it? I believe the form will continue; however, a win vs Leicester seems too likely to say no.

Yassin’s prediction: 3-1 Man City. They continue trying to regain form with an easy win against Leicester.

Crystal Palace vs Southampton

Crystal Palace: Consistency. After a five-game undefeated streak, the Eagles lost to Arsenal. Glasner will wish that his team finds last season’s consistency.

Southampton: The Saints were unfortunate not to take at least a point vs West Ham, with 6ft 8′ Striker Onuachu missing key chances for Ivan Juric’s side, who showed a lot of promise and a lot of threat when you play to the squad’s strengths.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 2-2. An end-to-end and man-to-man game with the points being shared at Selhurst Park

Yassin’s prediction: 2-1 Palace. The Eagles beat the Saints to get farther away from the relegation zone.

Tottenham vs Wolves

Tottenham: Without a fully fit backline, Spurs become a shadow of themselves, with Van De Ven, Romero, and Vicario still injured. They are essential to their buildup and their high line.

Wolves: Wolves have been excellent under their new manager, Vitor Pereira, and secured a vital three points against Manchester United on boxing day, making it two wins from two and hoping to make it 3/3 vs a struggling Spurs

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 2-0 Wolves. I think it’s the final nail in the coffin for Ange, with Wolves going 3/3 under their new gaffer.

Yassin’s prediction: 3-2 Wolves. They continue their resurgence under Pereira by beating Tottenham.

Fulham vs Bournemouth

Fulham: The Cottagers shocked everyone with a last-gasp win vs. Chelsea and will look to build on the result before the new year.

Bournemouth: Efficiency in front of the goal. The Cherries are one of the best teams in the league, but they are not efficient enough to accumulate wins. With more efficiency, they can be in Europe next season.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 2-2. It is an entertaining encounter for two evenly matched teams who share the points at Craven Cottage.

Yassin’s prediction: 1-1. Two of the best teams in the first round this season play a fun, entertaining draw.

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

Everton: Sean Dyche’s tricky Toffees at it again with an imposing point away at The Etihad, although saying that pretty much everyone has been able to do so as of late.

Nottingham Forest: Continuation of this form. If Santo wishes for one thing, it is that his team continues to play to this level all season.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 4-2 Forest. On fire and in form. Nuno’s side coasts to victory on Merseyside.

Yassin’s prediction: 2-0 Forest. They continue their hot form by beating the Toffees to end the league’s first round in the top four.

West Ham vs Liverpool

West Ham: The Hammers could consider themselves lucky to have got the three points at St Mary’s and will be looking for more of this luck to defeat the leaders, Liverpool

Liverpool: A Salah extension. A greedy Liverpool fan would say an extension of the trio, but extending the Egyptian forward who is single-handedly mounting this Liverpool title challenge is a must.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 5-1 Liverpool. Salah masterclass, again, puts the league leaders even further into the lead.

Yassin’s prediction: 3-3. The Hammers continue their good form by holding the Reds to a draw.

Aston Villa vs Brighton

Aston Villa: Villa Park is a fortress. Part of what pushed Villa last season to a top-four finish is how difficult it was for teams to come to Villa Park and get anything. This season, it feels easier for teams to go to that ground and get something.

Brighton: Brighton played out a dull 0-0 draw vs. Brentford on Friday night with an all-round poor month for the Albion, as they now hope to turn their fortunes around with a win to sign off in 2024.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 3-1 Villa. The Albion’s fortunes do change, and The Villans rule winners in this contest, putting their controversy-filled boxing day defeat vs Newcastle behind

Yassin’s prediction: 4-3 Villa. Two teams who know nothing about defence play a fun game that ends in a vast Villa win.

Ipswich Town vs Chelsea

Ipswich Town: a home win. How good would it feel for Ipswich to get a Premier League home win for the first time in almost 23 years? If they return to the Championship, they should at least experience the feeling of winning at Portman Road.

Chelsea: A couple of shaky results for the London side as of late. However, they will hope that Ipswich isn’t another banana skin, and they can cruise to victory.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 4-0 Chelsea. More woes for Mckenna’s men as they succumb to another heavy defeat.

Yassin’s prediction: 4-1 Chelsea. That win does not come in this game week as the Blues easily dismantle The Tractor Boys.

Manchester United vs Newcastle

Manchester United: A left wingback. To see the Amorim idea in full flow, the Red Devils need a left wingback who is, you know, a left wingback, rather than multiple makeshift options. This role is a key upgrade point for The Red Devils in January.

Newcastle: The Geordies will be on cloud nine after that excellent victory vs Aston Villa. They are now finding form at the right time and playing Manchester United at the right time.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 3-1 Newcastle. It’s too much for Ruben’s reds to handle, and Newcastle get another fairly routine three pints

Yassin’s prediction: 3-2 Manchester United. Against a tough opponent, the Red Devils give their fans something to cheer about in the final game of the year.

Brentford vs Arsenal

Brentford: The Bees’ form has plateaued as of late, and they will hope their strong home form can help beat a Saka-less Arsenal.

Arsenal: More goals from open play. The Gunners are the best team in the world from set pieces. Yet, if they want to compete for significant honours, they need more from open play.

Predictions

Alex’s prediction: 2-0 Brentford. The Gtech has been an unhappy hunting ground for the gunners as of late, and its run will continue

Yassin’s prediction: 2-1 Brentford. The Bees continue their fantastic run at home by beating Arsenal on New Year’s Day.
