Premier League Matchday 12 Predictions

Welcome back to the Attacking Football Premier League predictions. Today, you have me, Yassin, who is extremely excited about the prospect of Amorim’s first Premier League game going against Alex in my quest to try and climb the predictions table.

Let’s dive into the Premier League Matchday 12 predictions. Before you do that, you can check out last week’s predictions to compare how the lads did!

Premier League Matchday 12 Preview & Predictions

Leicester vs Chelsea

Leicester: The Foxes were atrocious against Manchester United. Leicester has 10 points from 11 games, which is more than what was expected looking at their squad at the start of the season

Chelsea: The Blues are third in the Premier League after 11 games. Most of their fans would have taken it when they saw Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle, and Liverpool on their schedule in the first 11 games. Now they go to King Power to play a game they should win.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-1 Chelsea. If Chelsea want to be considered a top 4 contender, they must win this type of game. The Blues can get themselves into the title race if City keeps playing like that and Liverpool gets into a bad run. They win with ease at King Power.

Alex’s Prediction: 4-0 Chelsea.

Brighton vs Bournemouth

Brighton: Fabian Hürzeler’s squad had a favorable start to the season. They have the same number of points as Chelsea and Arsenal. They also played against Manchester United, Newcastle, Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea. A very good start to the season with a tough schedule.

Bournemouth: The Cherries have 15 points, but it feels like they have more. They have played good football all season, and their wastefulness is the only reason they are not higher up the table.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-2. A fun game between two excellent teams ends in an entertaining high-scoring draw. These two teams are so pleasant to watch.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-2.

Fulham vs Wolves

Fulham: Fulham has been one of the best teams at the start of this season. 18 points from 11 games. Their schedule will get tougher in the upcoming weeks. This is also one of their easier games before a tough run.

Wolves: Wolves finally won a game. They were due a win sometimes. All it needed was a VAR controversy that finally went their way.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-0 Fulham. Fulham has been a surprise this season. They silently have 18 points, and no one is noticing how good their season is up to that point. They have beaten every team they are supposed to beat, and this continues against Wolves.

Alex’s Prediction: 3-0 Fulham.

Everton vs Brentford

Everton: Everton drew with West Ham in the last game. They have 10 points out of 11 games, but they have not played any of the big boys yet. Their schedule is starting to get much more difficult, and they need to win that type of game.

Brentford: The Bees are chaotic and fun. Brentford games are pure chaos. They score a lot of goals and concede a lot of goals. Their games swing a lot in momentum and results. Expect another fun game.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-2 Everton. Another chaotic game, but this time it goes against the Bees. The Toffees get the win at Goodison. All of Brentford’s 16 points came at home.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-0 Brentftord.

Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest

Arsenal: The Gunners have been underwhelming this season. They are far away from their best, and injuries are clearly affecting them. They need to kick on soon if they want any hope of winning the league.

Nottingham Forest: Forest lost to the Magpies in the last game week. It is not yet clear whether this was a bad day at the office or reverting to normal with their schedule toughening up.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 1-0 Forest. The two-time European Champions have their blueprint to win this type of game. Sit in a low block, deal well with the set pieces, and hurt your opponent on the counter. After winning at Anfield and drawing at Stamford Bridge, Nottingham slays another giant with a win at the Emirates.

Alex’s Prediction: 1-0 Forest.

Aston Villa vs Crystal Palace

Aston Villa: The Birmingham Lions are in what could be considered a mini-slump. They lost two Premier League games in a row, conceding six and only scoring once. They are yet to beat any of the Top 6 this season.

Crystal Palace: The Eagles got their first win a month ago against Spurs, and everyone expected them to kick on. They drew with Wolves and lost to Fulham in the two games after. Maybe it is time we stop expecting them to kick on and accept this is their real level.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 4-1 Villa. Aston Villa gets out of their slump with an effortless win against the Eagles. There is a huge difference in quality between both teams, and it shows in the game.

Alex’s Prediction: 3-1 Villa.

Tottenham vs Manchester City

Tottenham: Tottenham knocked City out of the Carabao Cup and then beat Aston Villa 4-1. What came after that was two consecutive losses to Galatasaray and Ipswich at home. Predicting Spurs games is like predicting the lottery numbers. Good luck predicting which version of Tottenham will show up.

Manchester City: The Citizens are in their worst run of form in the Pep Guardiola era. They lost their last four games, and they are already five points behind Liverpool. After Spurs, they go to Anfield. This Spurs game is a must win for City in order not to find themselves 11 points behind Liverpool in one week.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-1 Manchester City. For the first time in the Guardiola era, the Citizens lost four games in a row. They are bound to break out of that bad run sooner rather than later. Two seasons ago, a comeback from 2-0 down against Spurs started their title push. A win on a pitch they always struggled on will start another title push.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-2.

Southampton vs Liverpool

Southampton: The Saints won against Everton. They conceded early against Wolves but equalized almost instantly. Then, VAR intervened. They lost the game, and it was two long weeks of International Break with that sense of injustice. This is not the first VAR injustice the Saints suffer in a relegation six-pointer.

Liverpool: The Reds could not have dreamt of that season starting in their wildest dreams. 28 points from 11 games, five points above City and nine above Arsenal. Slot’s team is in dreamland.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-1 Southampton. I am following in my colleague Alex’s footsteps here. Am I crazy for predicting a Saints win? 100%. They will feel hard done by a controversial VAR decision at Wolves, and they are due to have some good luck at home. Southampton were good against City and Arsenal away from St Mary. Russell Martin’s squad fights for him and gives him a big win against the Premier League leaders.

Alex’s Prediction: 4-0 Liverpool.

Ipswich Town vs Manchester United

Ipswich Town: The Tractor Boys got their first Premier League win at White Hart Lane. The international break could not have come at a worse time for them. It killed their momentum, and now they play against Manchester United with Ruben Amorim in his first game. Good Luck.

Manchester United: Ruud stabilized the ship before the start of the Amorim era. He got three wins from four games, and the results will give some confidence and momentum to the Manchester United squad. Oh, and the Red Devils have another new manager to bounce to benefit from.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-0 Manchester United. A game between a manager who was linked with the Red Devils job and the one who got it. Ipswich has momentum after winning at White Hart Lane. Yet, it is Amorim’s first game and with the Red Devils’ individual quality, it will be too much to ask for a result from the Tractor Boys. The Amorim Era takes off with a flying start.

Alex’s Prediction: 3-0 Manchester United.

Newcastle United vs West Ham United

Newcastle United: The Magpies are finally starting to click. They got two wins in a row against Forest and Arsenal, and they are now one point behind third-placed Chelsea. Newcastle needs to prove in that game that their two consecutive wins were not a fluke and that they are really back to their best.

West Ham United: The Hammers are a mess. Lopotegui cannot seem to get his idea across. The players they signed in the summer do not seem like they are gelling with each other. Lopetegui is entering the final chance zone, and the ownership needs to see some upturn in form, performances, and results.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-0 Newcastle United. At St James Park, Newcastle—a team on the rise—plays a team that has not figured it out yet in West Ham. Unfortunately for Lopotegui, this upturn does not come in St James Park, and Newcastle rolls to an effortless win.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-0 Newcastle United.
