Nottingham Forest Trigger One-Year Extension for Full-Back Ola Aina
Nottingham Forest have triggered the option for a one-year extension on Ola Aina’s contract. The Nigerian defender joined from Torino, on a free transfer, before the start of this season. His deal was only for season.
According to the Telegraph’s John Percy, Nottingham Forest had an option included to extend it for another season. This has now been activated.
The former Chelsea academy man has been a key figure for Forest this season as they look to survive the drop. Aina has started a majority of games when available for selection, but was unavailable for a month back in January and February due to AFCON. He was then injured until recent, missing seven games.
He has since returned to the squad for their last two matches where they have picked up 4 points from a possible 6.
If the City Ground club want to remain in the Premier League, amidst their 4 points deduction, they will need to their important players such as Aina to step up over the coming weeks.
Next up for Nuno Espirito’s men is a trip away to Tottenham on Sunday, April 7th. They will hope they can carry on their impressive form from the last two weeks.
