Manchester United Duo Lisandro Martinez & Victor Lindelof Out For A Month Through Injury
Manchester United’s injury woes have gotten worse today, with news breaking that Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez are set to miss the next month through injury. Martinez featured against Brentford for the first time since recovering from his knee injury, but is set for another spell on the sidelines.
Victor Lindelof was the player Martinez came on for against Brentford, as the Swedish defender came off with a muscle injury. It’s likely the Argentinian defender was rushed back from his knee injury and was likely not supposed to have featured as early as he did.
Martinez & Lindelof Fresh Injuries:
The news broke this evening, with Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane expected to carry the mantle for the next couple of weeks. Varane, however, has discussed his concerns with the repeated concussions he’s received over his career in football, and revealed he has already missed games for that exact reason this summer. Varane came off at half-time on Saturday, with Harry Maguire replacing him in the line-up.
Martinez is said to have a calf injury, and Lindelof’s injury is hamstring injury. United have named 20 different centre-back partnerships in the Premier League this season, and an injury to either Maguire or Varane before the end of the campaign could see that become 21. Jonny Evans is yet to return from an injury that has kept him out of the squad since 9th of March.
The injury for Martinez is said to have happened in training, while the injury to Lindelof occurred against Brentford. Manchester United have had over 50 different cases of injury or illness this season, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down as the season comes to a close.
Both players are aiming to be back fit before the end of the season.
