Manchester United Agree Deal For Rasmus Hojlund

Manchester United and Serie A side Atalanta have agreed a deal to bring 20 year old striker Rasmus Højlund to Old Trafford. The deal is believed to be a package in the region of €75m plus 10m add-ons.

It was widely reported that enquiries were made early in the summer for Tottenham’s star-man Harry Kane but focus soon shifted to the Danish international. Erik ten Hag has made it clear publicly his desire to bring in a striker saying: “We need more players who are capable” when discussing United’s goalscoring efforts after the 2-0 pre-season defeat to Real Madrid. Erik has got his wish.

Højlund began his career in his home city, making a handful of appearances for FC Copenhagen before moving to Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga for a fee of €1.95m. Just six months later in August 2022 he was on the move again, this time to Atalanta for €17.20m. He made 20 starts and scored 9 goals for Atalanta last season.

Hojlund has made no secrets of his love for Manchester United, saying earlier this year when asked about a potential move to the Red Devils: “I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan. So personally, it would be one of the biggest things for me”. He follows Man United and several of the players on Instagram and largely trusted source ‘Manchester United Muppetiers’ said on Youtube recently that he and is family were even in attendance at the FA Cup Final against Man City.

Will Rasmus Højlund prove to be the top-class striker Manchester United have so desperately been crying out for? Many will be hoping so.
