Liverpool Are Yet To Identify A Clear Successor To Jurgen Klopp
After the news that Xabi Alonso would be remaining at Bayer Leverkusen for another year, many felt Liverpool’s clear choice for the successor of Jurgen Klopp was Ruben Amorim from Sporting CP. Amorim’s name was instantly linked to the side from Anfield in the media shortly after Alonso broke the news, but despite this, Liverpool are yet to make a final decision on their next manager.
The Portuguese coach is someone on the list of Liverpool for sure, and they are aware of his qualities and achievements in Liga Nos over the last two seasons, but he has not been earmarked as the clear successor to Jurgen Klopp as of yet. In fact, no manager has. The Red’s are taking their time, making sure they get the decision correct.
Amorim Not A Sure Thing For Liverpool:
As reported by David Ornstein on The Athletic podcast, Liverpool are not certain to appoint Ruben Amorim as their next manager as of yet, and they are still undecided on who they want to take over when their German coach leaves this summer.
Klopp announced two months ago that he was ready to leave Liverpool, and the discussions online since then regarding his replacement have been non-stop. Roberto De Zerbi from Brighton is a name that has been thrown into the mix quite frequently, but he is unlikely to be the next man in the dugout at Anfield.
With the return of Michael Edwards, data is anticipated to play a major role in the selection of the new managers. Edwards has built a reputation, along with the owners FSG behind the scenes, who are huge admirers of the money ball system, for using data to determine whether someone is a good fit. That will be no different during the decision making process for the next manager at the club.
No decision has been made as of yet at Liverpool, but it’s unlikely they will get the decision wrong when the time comes given the level of expertise internally at the meticulous nature of their planning.
