EXCLUSIVE: No Concrete Offers For Manchester City & United Target Dani Olmo
There have been various reports in the media in recent weeks regarding RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo, and his possible future at the club beyond this season. The 25-year-old has been in fine form for the German side this season, scoring eight goals and contributing five assists in the 22 games he has played.
Manchester City and Manchester United are poised to hit the market big this summer, and both clubs have been linked to the Spaniard for a number of seasons, dating back to before last summer’s transfer window. Olmo has been at Leipzig since January 2020, when he joined from Dinamo Zagreb for a fee of £24.7 million, and has made 145 appearances for the club since then.
No Concrete Offers for Olmo:
Despite the reports linking Manchester United and Manchester City to the midfielder, we understand there are no concrete offers of approaches for Dani Olmo as of yet. The circumstances could change next month, and there are some anticipations that offers will come in, but as of right now, there are no current concrete movements on the future of the player.
Olmo will be at EURO 2024 with Spain this summer, and he is fully focused on having a good tournament with his country. The 25-year-old has missed some of this campaign through injury, but is now fully fit and working towards his side finishing as high as possible, with Leipzig currently chasing a Champions League place. They currently sit fourth, level on points with Borussia Dortmund in fifth.
Manchester City are looking to begin to replace Kevin De Bruyne next season, and Olmo has been someone the club has reportedly admired for some time. Lucas Paqueta is likely to be the first choice, however, with the Manchester club missing out on the Brazilian last season due to personal issues. City had agreed a fee with West Ham for Paqueta, before news of his involvement in an apparent betting scandal broke in the media. The inquiry into this investigation remains ongoing.
On the other side of Manchester, the Red’s are heading into their first transfer window under INEOS and could look to bring in a marquee signing like Olmo, especially considering the player has a release clause of just £52 million. Bruno Fernandes is turning 30 in September, but he is showing no signs at present of slowing down, and remains a vital part of the squad going into next season, which could turn the Red’s against making an offer for Olmo. Mason Mount could also play a role in the situation. United have also been linked to his teammate, Benjamin Sesko.
He is one to watch in the summer window, and the fact there are no offers yet does not suggest he will not move when the time comes. We have been informed that next month could be a vital month in the future of the midfielder, but for now, there is nothing concrete on the table.
