Brighton Close To Signing Boca Juniors Defender Valentin Barco
Brighton are now nearing the signing of Boca Junior’s wonderkid Valentin Barco. Barco has been linked with a move away from Argentina since last summer, and his destination now looks set in stone with Brighton now steps away from landing another huge young talent to add to their already stacked ranks.
Barco will be a player Football Manager fans are hugely familiar with due to his wonderkid status in the game. Many people he can go on to be just as good in real life as he is in the game, and Brighton is going to be the club to try and nurture that talent over the next few years.

We understand that Brighton is now 100% likely to become the next club of Valentin Barco. The player is likely to sign a 6-year contract at the Premier League club. He is expected to sign for the club within the January Window. He has executed his termination clause, and will not wait for Boca to accept an offer for him in the coming days.
Brighton will pay around $10million (£8m) to land Barco from Boca Juniors, who now have until Tuesday to accept the current offer for the player. Barco was rumored to be awaiting a contract extension from Boca but has now decided to join Brighton within this window.
Manchester City have had previous interest in Barco, but they are now set to miss out. The Blues did sign Claudio Echaverri last week, which may point toward why they decided not to press forward with a move for Barco.
Who Is Valentin Barco?
Barco is a 19-year-old left-back who plays for Boca Juniors in the Argentine League. He can play a number of roles across the left side, and has played both left wing and left midfield during his time in professional football so far. He can also play in the center of midfield. The Argentina u-23 international has played 35 games in his career so far, scoring 1 goal and delivering 4 assists during that period.
Liverpool and Manchester City have previously been interested in Barco, who has been on the radar of many scouts worldwide for several years. Brighton has a history of signing youngsters from the South American market, and Barco was informed before this decision that signing for Brighton is a great opportunity for his future in the game.
Alexis Mac Allister is an example of a player who has gone from Argentina to Brighton and gone on to do amazing things, landing a £55m move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window. His father Carlos spoke to Barco about playing for Brighton.

When Will The Deal Happen?
The deal is expected to move extremely quickly from here on out. The exit clause has been triggered, and Barco has agreed to leave Boca immediately. It’s now up to Boca to negotiate his exit, and try and find out if they can get any more than the $ 10 million, (£8m) that has been triggered in the exit clause by the Premier League club. A final decision is anticipated by Tuesday. If Boca refuses to accept the current offer, Brighton will trigger the release clause outright.
