Bayern Munich Reject Joint Bid For Matthijs De Ligt & Noussair Mazraoui From Manchester United

Bayern Munich have rejected a joint bid for Matthijs De Ligt & Noussair Mazraoui from Manchester United, according to a report from David Ornstein. The report states that United launched a bid for the pair in recent hours, believing they would get a deal over the line. Bayern, however, much to the surprise of the agent of both player’s Rafaela Pimenta, have rejected the bid.

Talks are ongoing between the clubs to come to an agreement. United have stepped up their approach after the injury to Leny Yoro against Arsenal, with the defender set to miss 2 and a half months through injury with a fractured metatarsal. Noussair Mazraoui is being brought in to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is expected to join West Ham in the coming days after the pair came to a closer agreement on personal terms.

Bayern Reject Joint De Ligt & Mazraoui Bid:

In regards to the price of the bid, that is yet to be disclosed. Bayern were holding out for £42 million or more for De Ligt, with the Red’s only willing to pay £34 million for the last number of weeks. Mazraoui is anticipated to be much cheaper than the Dutchman, with fees of around £18 million being quoted.

Both players previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax, being part of the side that went all the way to the Champions League semi-final. The pair have made joining United a priority in recent weeks, with neither willing to join any other club in pursuit of reuniting with the manager that they played their best football under so far in their careers.

A deal is expected to be completed for both, but not just yet. Talks will continue in the coming hours and days, with United adamant on signing the two from Bayern. A deal for Jarrad Branthwaite is now viewed as unlikely this summer.
