Ange Postecoglou Reveals One RISK He Is Unwilling to Take At Tottenham Hotspur

Ange Postecoglou has revealed one risk he will not take as long as he is manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

The Australian is known to be one of the riskiest managers in the Premier League when it comes to his playing style, often leaving acres of space behind his defenders thanks to his high line.

However, despite the large number of injuries Spurs currently have, Postecoglou says he will not take the risk of “exposing young players” and potentially “destroying careers” to ease his rotation problems.

Not Willing to Risk Young Players Careers

In his pre-match press conference for the FA Cup fixture against Aston Villa, Ange Postecoglou was asked if some of the youth players could make the step up to alleviate the headache caused by their injury woes.

The Tottenham boss was quick to downplay the involvement of too many younger players despite a few making some minutes in Europe this season. Postecoglou said it is “one thing to put them on late in a European game,” compared to an important cup fixture against one of the Premier League’s best sides.

He went on to say, “I’m not going to expose young players to that kind of [game]. We saw what happened last night [against Liverpool]. Our players are getting criticised; most will be able to handle it; they are old enough. But I wouldn’t want to expose a young player to something like that.”

I won’t make a determination in a snap instant and destroy careers.”

Earlier in the press conference, Ange did reiterate that he does use quite a lot of youth, with players like 18-year-old Archie Gray being a key figure throughout the last couple of months. Additionally, 17-year-old Mikey Moore has made a handful of appearances across the season.

The Tottenham manager says he will likely field a similar team to the one in their 4-0 EFL Cup semi-final defeat to Liverpool, but without Richarlison, who went off injured.
