SOURCES: PSG Lead Race For 18-Year Old Lille Defender Lenny Yoro

Lenny Yoro from LOSC Lille has been linked to a move to Manchester United recently, as the club looks to complete a defensive overhaul in the summer transfer window. The Reds are bolstered by the minority takeover from INEOS, and the defensive unit is something the new owners are looking to make a priority when the window eventually opens.

Yoro has risen to prominence this season with some dominant performances. The 18-year-old centre-back has shown maturity beyond his years and caused some of the top sides in Europe to take immediate notice. Lille are of course likely to try and keep him when the summer window does open, but will face a serious task when the time comes considering the level of stature of some of the clubs interested.

Liverpool, Manchester United and many other clubs within the Premier League and across Europe are currently monitoring the situation, but one club in particular hold the lead at present.

PSG Lead Yoro Race:

We understand Paris Saint Germain leads the race for Lenny Yoro at present. The French side “hold the rope”, when it comes to the future of the French defender, and Manchester United and Liverpool are currently trailing.

PSG were always likely to have some sort of say in the transfer due to their spending power and the fact they are based in the player’s home nation. A transfer in January is near impossible and extremely unlikely to happen, but this summer is expected to see some big offers sent for the defender and more than likely a transfer away from Lille.

Manchester United have the player on their list, but we understand the club hasn’t made any contact with Lille or the player regarding a transfer as of yet. Liverpool are in the same situation as their rivals.

A Good Move?

With Kylian Mbappe likely to leave PSG in the summer, they are likely to reinvest heavily into the squad. Yoro is likely to be just one of several players signed by the club in what is looking like a new era, and it may just be a good time to join the much-criticised rich club in France.

Mbappe’s shadow has been hanging over the club in recent years, especially during the contract saga, and when he does eventually leave they may be able to find an identity again. Signing players like the 18-year-old defender could allow them to move on from the past, and look towards building a bright and promising future.

One thing that has eluded the Qatari ownership that purchased the club back in 2011 has been winning the Champions League. That looks extremely unlikely this campaign considering some of the team performances this season, but they may get a fresh chance to build towards that next season post-Mbappe. Yoro could be one of the faces spearheading the next revolution.

How Good Is He?

Yoro ranks in the top 92 percentile for passes completed in Europe’s top five leagues this season. He also ranks in the top 83 percentile for interceptions in the same metric, which is startling statistics playing for a team like Lille at just 18. He has a tackle success rate of 64.7% this season and is averaging 3.09 tackles and interceptions per game. The French defender is already showing signs of becoming an elite defender, and is being compared to the same levels Arsenal defender William Saliba was showing at Saint Etienne before he left the club.

This player has the potential to become one of the best defenders on the planet, and PSG are currently the club leading the rest of the pack to make that happen.
