Liverpool Handed Major Boost in Mac Allister Pursuit

Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool has been given a significant boost in their efforts to sign Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister. The club will allow the Argentinian to leave in a deal worth less than £60 million, and the player has allegedly agreed to switch to Merseyside.

Romano’s recent update reveals that Mac Allister has an agreement with his current club, allowing him to depart if they receive a suitable offer. This contradicts earlier indications that it would take a bid exceeding £70 million to secure his services.

The journalist’s sources tell him that a deal less than £60 million could be enough to secure a deal. The transfer specialist also reported the player has agreed to make a move in an interview with GiveMeSport.

I saw some rumours that it would be around £60-65 million. But I’m told it will be less than that.

The Argentine international is having a standout season under Roberto De Zerbi, netting ten goals in 32 Premier League matches. He was also vital to his national side as they lifted their first World Cup since 1986.

Mac Allister can play various roles in the midfield, a trait that certainly attracts the Liverpool boss. Throughout the 2022/23 season, Brighton has deployed him as a No. 6, No. 8, and as a No. 10.

Jürgen Klopp’s side is the current front-runner to sign the player. The German is currently looking to revamp his midfield after a disappointing season. With the club dropping out of the race for Jude Bellingham, the Reds have set sights on multiple alternatives.

It appears that Mac Allister may be the first to switch to Merseyside. However, with the latest appointment of Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea, Liverpool faces competition for the Brighton No.10’s signature.

Chelsea could view Mac Allister as a replacement for the seemingly outbound Mason Mount, who is also high on Liverpool’s transfer list.
