SOURCES: Manchester United Players Believe Ruben Amorim Will Succeed If Given Time
Ruben Amorim has become a target for the media in recent weeks, as has every Manchester United manager in the last ten years after a run of poor results, but there is a feeling among the players that the manager should be given time to turn things around and that he is fully backed in the dressing room.
The suggestions Amorim should veer from his system or philosophy have begun to ring through amongst those in the media, but the manager has remained tied to his word and has continued to push forward his beliefs onto the squad regardless of the poor run of form at the moment.
The squad backs Amorim and has done so since the reports circulated last week that they were having doubts about his tactical ability. Leny Yoro and Diogo Dalot have been full of praise publicly about Amorim’s tactical level, but internally as well, as told to us by sources close to AttackingFootball, there is a belief in the Portuguese manager, and an insistence that if given the time he needs to transform the team using his methods, the club will thrive again.
Amorim Needs Time:
A spirited fight back against Everton at the weekend showcased how quick United can turn games around at times, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte being pivotal. Ugarte has been a clever signing for the club this summer, and there is a clear difference in how the midfield functions with and without the Uruguayan. Casemiro hasn’t done poorly in the two games he has played in the absence of Kobbie Mainoo and Toby Collyer, but the midfield system Amorim deploys needs legs, and Ugarte has the type of physicality needed to cover the ground.
United will look to put all their eggs in one basket when it comes to making a success out of the season, with the Europa League a likely port for salvation. Amorim has won five out of five games in the competition this season but faces a tough task against Real Sociedad in the next round. United have failed to win their last three games in the Europa League at home against teams from the Basque region but will be hoping to change that statistic next month when they face a Martin Zubimendi-led Sociedad.
The squad backs Amorim, regardless of opportunistic clickbait articles to the contrary. These articles have surfaced under every manager like a sadistic déjà vu, and while some of them have been true in the past, this time is not one of them. Amorim needs time; that is a view shared by the players, and if he is given that time, United will be the better for it.

A situation like this was always likely during a season and following a campaign in which United’s performances and the environment around the club have been so turbulent. Sporting struggled in Amorim’s first campaign under similar circumstances and he faced similar criticisms in the media over in Portugal during this period. But, as he has maintained from the start of his time in Old Trafford, he has a firm belief in his philosophy and he will leave before changing that. Erik ten Hag was largely criticised for changing his way of playing after United’s 4-0 defeat to Brentford in his second game, but now, due to Amorim refusing to compromise his way of playing, he is facing the same criticisms.
United have a truly talented manager in the dugout at the moment, capable of pointing the club back in the direction of the glory days if he is allowed to implement his methods truly and that can only come from a full pre-season and transfer window full of backing. The squad is behind Ruben Amorim at this time, and that is unlikely to change between now and the end of the season.
