Premier League Matchday 17 Predictions

Welcome back to the Attacking Football Premier League predictions. Today, you have me, Yassin, to provide the Premier League Matchday 17 predictions. Before you do that, you can check out last week’s predictions to compare how the lads did!

Premier League Matchday 17 Preview & Predictions

Aston Villa vs Manchester City

Aston Villa: The Villans still cannot find their levels of last season. They have been good in some games, but they are still far away from the team that ran riot in the past season. Their defense is a big reason for that form.

Manchester City: The Citizens are in relegation form. Blowing the Derby the way they did will not help their confidence.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-2. Two of the best teams last season are out of form. They concede a lot of goals and an entertaining defensive disaster class between both of them ends in a draw.

Alex’s Prediction: 3-1 Villa. The noise of Villa Park combined with City’s injury woes and woeful form.

West Ham vs Brighton

West Ham: The Hammers are starting to gain momentum under Lopotegui. They got four points from their last two games. They will be hoping that the team is starting to gel and understand better the Spaniard’s ideas.

Brighton: The Seagulls are continuing their free downfall. A blown 2-0 lead against Leicester and an unexplainable loss against Palace at home. They look like a shadow of the team that started the season brilliantly.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-1 West Ham. The Hammers continue their upward form, beating the Seagulls, who are in free-fall form.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-0 Brighton. They need to bounce back well from the awful Derby Day defeat.

Brentford vs Nottingham Forest

Brentford: The Bees continued their atrocious form away from home. They were thoroughly outplayed by Chelsea, and the result did not reflect the difference in quality between them and the Blues.

Nottingham Forest: Forest are still living in dream land. Not even their most optimistic fan could have predicted them sitting in fourth place with 28 points after 16 games.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-2 Brentford. The Bees are a team that strives on chaos and Forest is well organized and structured. Brentford benefits from their fans push to beat Forest in an entertaining game.

Alex’s Prediction: 3-1 Brentford. The Bees’ strong home form could really help them here

Ipswich Town vs Newcastle United

Ipswich Town: They got the win at Moulineux. The Tractor boys are now continuing in their quest to get their first home Premier League win in almost 23 years.

Newcastle United: The Magpies continued rolling over bad teams at St James Park. They are good at home and not that good away.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-1 Ipswich. Kieran Mckenna’s team finally gets the home win they were searching for to continue climbing up the table.

Alex’s Prediction: 3-0 Newcastle. Ipswich outclassed and outplayed.

Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

Crystal Palace: The Eagles are soaring. They are undefeated in five. During these five games, they drew with Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa while beating Brighton away from home.

Arsenal: The expensive Stoke City could not find their way against Everton due to Sean Dyche’s team being experts in defending set pieces.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-0 Palace. The Eagles are soaring and continuing their hot streak by winning a London Derby and put another dent in Arsenal’s already slim title hopes.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-0 Palace. Shock result that will shock the Gunners system.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth

Manchester United: The Red Devils were the better team at the Etihad. They will hope that this result gives them confidence and springs life into their league season, especially with them knocked out of the League Cup.

Bournemouth: Bournemouth are sixth in the league table with 25 points. They have been in exceptional form under Iraola. Their wastefulness in front of the goal is the only reason they are higher in the table.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-1 Manchester United. Amorim’s team continues their hot streak by dismantling the Cherries to keep climbing up the league table.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-1 Bournemouth a “shock” away win for the Cherries as they continue with their impressive performances.

Fulham vs Southampton

Fulham: They drew at Anfield, but they really should be upset about the result. Being the better team and playing against 10 men, they should have had a famous win against Liverpool.

Southampton: The club management finally put Russell Martin out of his misery. Now it is up to Ivan Juric to try and save their season and their Premier League status.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-0 Fulham. Unfortunately for the Saints, even with a new manager bounce, they don’t have enough quality to handle Fulham.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-1 Southampton. First away win of the season but Rusk will continue on with a decent record as an interim.

Leicester vs Wolves

Leicester: The Foxes were dismantled with ease against the Magpies. Nothing wrong in that though; there is a huge difference in quality between Leicester and Newcastle

Wolves: They have a new manager in town for this game. They will hope that the new manager bounce is enough to get them a result here while the players are trying to understand Vitor Pereira ideas.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 2-1 Wolves. Wolves benefit from a new manager bounce to get an important win in the relegation battle. After beating Leicester twice as an interim, Ruud gets burnt by the new manager’s bounce.

Alex’s Prediction: 2-0 Leicester. RVN’s men will concede high numbers of shots again however they will keep Wolves at bay.

Everton vs Chelsea

Everton: The Toffess finally have new owners after it was confirmed that the Friedkin Group purchased the club. On the pitch, they managed to shut down Arsenal last time out and this will be their last game against Chelsea in Goodison.

Chelsea: The Blues are continuing their subtle climb to the top of the table. If they win this game, they would be top as Liverpool plays after them.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-1 Chelsea. The Blues are an attacking force. They create too many chances and are the top scorers in the Premier League. Chelsea goes top after dismantling the Toffess with ease.

Alex’s Prediction: 5-0 Chelsea. They steam roll on into the title charge and may well clinch it.

Tottenham vs Liverpool

Tottenham: Good luck predicting which version of Spurs will appear in this game. The one that dismantled Manchester United and Manchester City with ease or the one that blew wins against Chelsea and lost to Palace and Ispwich. Their double personality act was apparent in the League Cup game against Manchester United.

Liverpool: The Reds are starting to get into a mini slump. They drew their last two League games and struggled to beat Girona and Southampton in midweek. Slot’s team needs to get out of this slump because Chelsea is starting to really apply the pressure.

Predictions:

Yassin’s Prediction: 3-2 Tottenham. I do not use logic in predicting Spurs games, just gut feeling. It tells me that the Lilywhites will win this one.

Alex’s Prediction: 3-0 Liverpool. Arne Slot will give Ange a tactical spanking.
