SOURCES: Liverpool Not In Talks To Sign Mohamed Simakan Amid Newcastle Interest
Liverpool are not currently exploring a move for Mohamed Simakan amid rumors Newcastle United have stepped up their interest in the player. The club from Merseyside have certainly had interest in the RB Leipzig defender in the past, but talks are not currently ongoing, and the player is expected to join another club this summer if he does end up leaving Germany.
Newcastle have an active interest in the player, who has been on the radar of a number of clubs over the last year or so. RB Leipzig are willing to listen to offers for the defender, but only if they fit their own valuation. Liverpool are said to be exploring the market for central defensive opportunities in the final hours of the window after the signing of Giorgi Mamardashvili and Federico Chiesa, but the preference is said to sit around a left sided defender who can also slot in at left-back.
No Simakan Talks:
Piero Hincapie has been a name mentioned and linked to Liverpool, but as of August 8th, talks had not been active for the player and the club from England. Ousmane Diomande has been another name linked to Anfield, but as of August 9th, talks were also not underway or active for the Sporting defender, who barring any late offers is expected to remain in Portugal for the season.
Castello Lukeba is another player linked to Liverpool, but we understand the player is not for sale this summer with Leipzig adamant on their stance that he will remain their player until at least next summer. There are still chances Liverpool hit the market for a defender, with a move for Alessandro Bastoni yet to be ruled out, but as of now that is the latest on their expected movements in regards to the names in the media.
