Hello and welcome to a recap of the Attacking Football live podcast. In this episode, the team had James Roades from United Muppetiers and lawyer ole_was_right to discuss all things related to Manchester United and the hot topics in the media right now.

So let’s dive into the Attacking Football x Ole_Was_Right x Muppetiers Podcast Recap! But if you want to hear the word’s from the horse’s mouth, you can watch a playback of the stream here!

Manchester United’s COVID Allowance Loss

The hot topic at the moment is the £40 million allowed by the Premier League due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The issue was explained live. Ole_was_right said that Manchester United have been allowed more losses because they simply make more money.

A lot of United sponsors have gone broke due to COVID-19, which is why these allowances have happened. Also, all Premier League clubs had allowances due to COVID-19. Every club had their losses and conversations happened between each club and Premier League separately.

On Frenkie de Jong

The rumour of Frenkie de Jong joining Manchester United is rearing its head again. By speaking about it, James said that a player like Frenkie de Jong will always be of interest to United.

That said, there is nothing advanced in Frenkie de Jong for United. There is also no indication that De Jong is willing to leave Barcelona.

On Manchester United Midfield Signing

The signing of N6 is a hot topic for United now. Manchester United reportedly dropped interest in Manuel Ugarte due to Paris Saint-Germain’s request for the fee. However, Manchester United are still interested in the player for the right price. In other words, if PSG comes with a lower asking price for Ugarte, Manchester United may come into play again.

Casemiro and McTominay not leaving impacted what Manchester United could spend in midfield. Casemiro’s amortisation value per season is £35.2 million, so the Red Devils would need £35 million only to break even.

As for the other linked players, it is all up in the air. The new Manchester United management is not willing to repeat the mistakes of the past and sign players for the sake of signing them. That said, Sander Berge is surely of interest. Manchester United also made a check on Martin Zubimendi, but they are not willing to pay his £51 million release clause. Also, there are concerns that the Spanish midfielder does not want to leave Real Sociedad.

On Manchester United’s Difficulties to Sell players

The issue with Manchester United players is that they are paid high wages. Players do not want to leave the club because they will not get the same wages somewhere else. Also, when Man United triggers the +1 in the player contracts, players get a percentage of the fee.

Ultimately, some players either need to be paid off for United or prefer to wait and get the club of their choice as a free agent. In addition to having their clubs of choice, players get a massive signing on bonus when they join clubs as free agents. Also, lot of United players see the move from as a step down.

On De Ligt

On Mattias De Light, there is a surprise at Old Trafford by Bayern Munich demands. They do not want De Ligt yet they are still insisting on demanding a very high fee for him. Manchester United wanted De Ligt as a market opportunity. The team led by Berrada, Ashworth and Wilcox are insisting on not paying above market value for the players. So if Bayern does not lower their price for De Ligt, there is a chance that deal may not happen.

On Mazraoui/ Wan Bissaka

Mazraoui may happen quickly as soon as Wan Bissaka agrees a deal with West Ham. The price for Mazraoui is going to be in the same range that West Ham agreed with Bayern Munich. That said, with Manchester United playing in the Community Shield this Saturday, there is a chance that the deal may not happen this week.
