Last Night Showed What Ireland Missed Out On

If ever the Irish fans needed a reminder of what they are missing out on it was in last night’s premier league action.West Ham beat Everton 1-0 at Goodison Park while Manchester United were 2-1 winners over Aston Villa. The two best players on the field in each game were Declan Rice and Jack Grealish both who have irish roots and have represented Ireland at various levels but were snatched from Ireland’s grasp to play for England.

Declan Rice has been a mainstay in the West Ham midfield for sometime now racking up over 100 appearances and taking over the captaincy in the absence of Mark Noble.Still only 21 years old he is showing maturity well beyond his years,he was brilliant last night against Everton as his game by numbers show.

53 Touches

86% Pass Accuracy

4/4 Duels Won

3 Tackles Won

5 Ball Recoveries

He has also started to take on responsibility with the ball and play a lot more forward passes in the final third.

At Old Trafford Jack Grealish was head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch he’s been performing at a high level for a while now but last night he showed why he is up there with the best midfielders in the premier league. It was an all action performance from the Villa man he was the architect of all the visitors best chances ,he provided the goal as he ghosted in off the touchline before picking out Bertrand Traore to fire home. This was his 7th assist of the season along with 5 goals and last night he was the most fouled player in a league game this season (8) as United couldn’t get to grips with his elusive style.

His game by numbers

92% Pass Accuracy

24 Final Third Passes

8 Fouls Suffered

7 Ball Recoveries

4 Chances Created

2 Tackles Won

1 Assist

Two stars of the premier league and destined for big money moves in the future,What could have been for Ireland.
